“Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There,” the second book of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, is a follow up of the first Alice Dalí AR Augmented Reality app by Haunted Planet Studios. Salvador Dalí was commissioned by Random House to illustrate the first book, but he never was offered to paint the second. We used the generative AI DALL-E to create the images in the style of Dalí, as if he would “paint” himself if still alive. Music by Svetlana Rudenko, Narration by Mads Haahr and some piano favourite pieces (extracts) by classical music composers: G. Ligeti N4 Tempo di Valse from “Musica Ricercata,” “Flight of the Bumblebee” by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, arranged for piano by S. Rachmaninov, E. Satie “Gymnopédie N 1,” F. Chopin “Revolutionary Etude” Op. 10, N12 and J. S. Bach “Two-part Invention N1 in C-major.”
Note: Haunted Planet Studios supports artists and believes in a fair pay for their work. The use of AI generated images are not in our regular practice, but are used here because they were used by our composer Svetlana Rudenko’s creative process. Svetlana specialises in multisensory approaches, and when she composes, she transfers a visual image into musical textures. For our first app, Alice Dalí AR, she composed on the original paintings of Dalí. For the second app, there were no such paintings, so she used DALL-E to imagine what they would have been like.
